The Northern Region of Portugal, which includes the city of Porto, is known for its rich history and vibrant culture. The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto plays a key role in supporting this economic growth and development, training engineers who are equipped to contribute to the region's innovation ecosystem. Graduates from the faculty are sought after by local companies and organisations, who value the high-quality education and practical experience that the faculty provides.

Local Impact

In addition to preparing students for successful careers, FEUP has a significant local impact through its research and development efforts. Faculty members and students work with local companies and organisations to tackle real-world engineering problems, develop new technologies and support economic growth in the region. This close collaboration between academia and industry has helped make the northern region of Portugal a hub of innovation and a leader in several key industries, including renewable energy, transport and advanced manufacturing.

Another important way in which FEUP supports the local community is through its outreach and engagement initiatives. The Faculty takes part in events and initiatives to promote science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) education and inspire the next generation of engineers. This includes running workshops and events in local schools, attending fairs and festivals, and working with community organisations to provide educational resources and support for students interested in a career in engineering. Whether through its graduates, its research and development efforts or its outreach initiatives, the Faculty is helping to ensure that the northern region of Portugal remains at the forefront of technological innovation and economic development for years to come.
