Sustainability - Carbon footprint

FEP has been reinforcing its commitment to the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which defines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These constitute the pillars for sustainable and socially responsible growth, with the mobilization of the entire community being fundamental.

In the environmental dimension, the commitment is to promoting a more sustainable environment and reducing the environmental impact of its activities by minimizing the consumption of natural resources, ensuring proper waste management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting biodiversity conservation, utilizing renewable energy, and implementing energy efficiency measures.

One of the commitments made in this regard concerns carbon neutrality, with FEP signing the Porto Climate Pact, an initiative of the Porto City Council, in 2022. In this context, several actions and initiatives have been developed, including certification in terms of carbon footprint (scope 1 and 2), obtained in July 2024, and more recently, the certification of scope 3, in March 2025. This milestone reflects FEP’s ongoing commitment to measuring, monitoring, and reducing the indirect emissions associated with its activities, reinforcing the school responsibility in building a more sustainable future.

The next step is to develop a carbon neutrality roadmap.
