Bachelor’s Degrees
Eligible Applicants
You can apply to the Special Call for Applications for International Students if you are a non-EU national and meet one of the following conditions:
- you have a Portuguese secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification;
- you have a diploma or certificate issued by a competent authority in your home country that proves acceptance and entrance into higher education.
Please note that you cannot apply if:
- you are a beneficiary of the Statute of Equal Rights and Duties as of 1 January of the year in which you wish to apply;
- you are enrolled at a Portuguese higher education institution under a mobility programme or equivalent;
- you have dual nationality, of which one is Portuguese;
- you or your parents have been legal residents in Portugal for more than two continuous years counting backwards from 1 January of the year of entrance into higher education. In this case, time spent residing in Portugal under a student visa is not counted;
- you are a relative of Portuguese people or people from an EU Member State, irrespective of your nationality.

Applications to the Special Call for Applications for International Students should be submitted online, on SIGARRA, before the deadline that will be announced in the Notice of this Call.
- The required qualification, duly proven;
- To present, in the application, the required documentation in the Notice of this Call.
Every year, FDUP reserves a specific number of vacancies for applicants with International Student Status, announced in the Notice of this Call, usually in December of the year before the one you wish to apply.
The deadlines for application and enrolment are announced each year in the Notice of this Call. So, you should stay tuned to SIGARRA.
Attending a course at FDUP is subject to the payment of a tuition fee/annual charge, which can vary. To learn more about the exact values, keep an eye on the Notice of the Special Call.
If you are a national of a country included in the CPLP – Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries, you may benefit from a fee reduction of up to 45% of the annual rate/tuition fee.
Master’s Degree in Law
Eligible Applicants
- Holders of a Bachelor's degree or legal equivalent with a final classification of 14 (or higher) in the applicable classification conversion table;
- Holders of a foreign academic degree awarded following a 1st Cycle of Studies, organised according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State that adheres to this process;
- Holders of a foreign academic degree recognised as fulfilling the goals of a Bachelor’s degree by the FDUP’s Scientific Council;
- Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised as attesting the capacity to carry out the 2nd Cycle of Studies in Law by the FDUP’s Scientific Council.
Applications to the Special Call for Applications for International Students should be submitted online, on SIGARRA, before the deadline that will be announced in the Notice of this Call.

- To present, in the application, the required documentation in the Notice of this Call.
The application is subject to a non-refundable payment of 55€.

Master’s Degree in Criminology
Eligible Applicants
- Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology;
- Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific area related to Criminology (Law, Psychology, Economics, Sociology, History, Anthropology, Biological Sciences, Social Work and Police Sciences);
- Holders of a Bachelor’s Degree;
- Holders of a foreign academic degree awarded following a 1st Cycle of Studies in Criminology or in a scientific area related to Criminology, organised according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State that adheres to this process;
- Holders of a foreign academic degree in Criminology or in a scientific area related to Criminology recognised as fulfilling the goals of a Bachelor’s degree by the FDUP’s Scientific Council;
- Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised as attesting the capacity to carry out the 2nd Cycle of Studies in Criminology by the FDUP’s Scientific Council.
