Student and External Relations Office (GERE)

The GERE:

  • Provides information on exchange and mobility issues;
  • Promotes the academic adaptation and integration of students and former students of the FDUP, providing support in several areas of their professional and vocational life;
  • Manage the publicity, advertising and marketing activities of the FDUP.

GERE comprises the following offices:

  • Manages the IN/OUT Mobility attendance;
  • Disseminates all information regarding mobility IN/OUT to students, teachers and staff;
  • Coordinates and supports the Faculty's international relations and cooperation actions;
  • Supports the development of activities on an international level (consortia, protocols, collaboration projects).

  • Promotes vocational guidance and career management;
  • Supports the transition to the labour market, namely through the contact with employment networks, as well as through the approximation to working reality;
  • Supports the promotion of personal and professional skills that foster professional insertion and academic adaptation (through workshops and training, extracurricular activities, among others);
  • Supports students with Special Educational Needs, for their favourable integration into the Faculty;
  • Monitors the professional path of students and Alumni;
  • Promotes the participation of Alumni through the promotion and organisation of events, reinforcing the sense of belonging and connection to the Faculty;
  • Strengthens the relationship with business, social, political and economic institutions.

  • Manages the outreach, publicity and marketing activities of the Faculty;
  • Collaborates with the Governance Support Unit on the organisation of academic, scientific, cultural and recreational events promoted or supported by the Faculty, and publicises them;
  • Organises the calendar of cultural activities to be held annually at the FDUP;
  • Manages the institutional presence of the Faculty on digital platforms;
  • Promotes the communication with AEFDUP and with other academic groups recognised by the Faculty.

Documentation Services

  • Support the Faculty and its community in the promotion of research and in the dissemination of legal and criminological knowledge;
  • Allow face-to-face reading, book consultation and book loans to the U.Porto community;
  • Provide the consultation of electronic resources.

Governance Support Unit

  • Provides secretarial services for the Faculty’s Board;
  • Organises conferences, exhibitions, congresses, meetings or other scientific, cultural or recreational activities promoted or supported by the Faculty;
  • Ensures the maintenance and safety of FDUP facilities.

Administrative, Financial and Academic Services

Comprise the following sections:

Academic Section
  • Provides information on the access and attendance conditions the Faculty;
  • Draws up notices and announcements relating to the 1st Cycles of Studies;
  • Issues certificates to the 1st Cycles of Studies;
  • Receives, registers and processes the granting of degree recognition and crediting requests.

  • Organises the application processes for Master's and PhDs;
  • Deals with crediting processes for the 2nd and 3rd Cycles of Studies;
  • Provides information on the access and attendance conditions the Faculty’s post-graduate courses;
  • Carries out services related to enrolment and registration;
  • Issues certificates to the 2nd and 3rd Cycles of Studies and and post-graduate studies;
  • Processes the granting of Master's and PhDs recognition.

Telephone Assistance: Monday and Wednesday – 10am to 12pm

In-Person Assistance: Tuesday and Thursday – 4pm to 6pm

  • Manages the administrative processes related to people management (teaching and non-teaching staff);
  • Organises the processes related to recruitment and selection of staff;
  • Promotes the staff welcoming and integration, ensuring their identification with the mission, goals and culture of the FDUP.
  • Provides technical support for the installation and maintenance of computer and software equipment;
  • Defines and develops solutions to information processing problems supported by computer means, involving, namely, the installation and maintenance of local computer networks;
  • Installs and maintains various software on the machines according to the needs of students and teaching and non-teaching staff;
  • Provides helpdesk services;
  • Prepares studies leading to the acquisition of equipment and software;
  • Ensures and coordinates the management of the Faculty's computer network and park, and supports the Faculty’s services with the use and application of computer programmes;
  • Manages the issuing of student cards;
  • It carries out training and tutorials on access and operation of new programmes.

School of Criminology Secretariat

  • Responsible for the secretarial work of the School of Criminology;
  • Collaborates on the organisation of scientific meetings and other scientific activities promoted by the School of Criminology of the FDUP.
