Learn moreThe Master's in Functional Biology and Plant Biotechnology is a very complete master's programme, as it covers various areas such as molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics and physiology. In this way, students are able to gain a broad spectrum of knowledge, allowing them to pursue careers in different areas, such as industry or research.
The BFBP master's programme not only focuses a lot on the practical application of the theoretical knowledge we've learnt, but it also opened the door to a wide range of possible projects, including international experience. For me, it's still the best choice I could have made, both because of the lecturers involved and because of the different subjects I've had the opportunity to delve into.
The master's degree in Functional Biology and Plant Biotechnology is an extremely complete master's degree that gave me the knowledge I needed to start my PhD, in my dream of pursuing a scientific career. Although it's demanding, I highly recommend it for both research and industry, because I don't think there's another one like it in our country!
The Master's Degree in Functional Biology and Plant Biotechnology offers solid theoretical training in the main components of plant cell and molecular biology and plant physiology, as well as practical laboratory experience, covering both fundamental biology and biotechnological applications in these areas. The wide range of curricular units on offer allows the academic pathway to be personalised to each student's individual interests.
The Master's in BFBP allowed me to deepen my knowledge at both a molecular and cellular level. It enabled me to learn different techniques, from the most up-to-date in plant biotechnology to the basics in plant breeding. It was a course that helped me to perfect and professionalise my love of algae and plants.
The experience I gained during my Master's in BFBP helped me to develop my scientific skills as it gave me the resilience I needed to face the day-to-day problems of a scientific researcher. In addition to the scientific aspect, this master's degree also gave me a better understanding of the labour market in plant biology and science-related entrepreneurship. After completing my master's degree, I quickly obtained an FCT doctoral scholarship in Plant Biology.
