Masters Degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
FCUP's Master in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology aims to train professionals with the skills for innovation and the creation of scientific knowledge, both fundamental and applied, in the growing area of interfacing computer science and biology. The curricular structure of the course is organised to ensure that students acquire transversal skills and knowledge in mathematics, computing, biochemistry, and biology, the latter two from a digital perspective.

With the bioinformatics master’s I acquired the necessary skills to handle and analyse large amounts of data using current methods which are in great demand in the job market.

I chose this master’s for its career prospects, and because of my interest in all things technological. This master’s allowed me to apply my knowledge of biology and develop a set of computer tools, which are extremely important. Thanks to this training, I was able to further my academic career, and I'm currently undertaking a PhD in Computer Science.
