The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP) is a reference institution for teaching, research, production, and sharing of culture in the areas of art, design and their intersections with several other areas of knowledge. Located in the city center of Porto, FBAUP is committed to involvement with the local community and actively collaborates with regional and national organizations. Additionally, it maintains partnerships with dozens of similar European institutions, encouraging the exchange of diverse training and cultural experiences.
With roots in the "Aula Pública de Debuxo e Desenho" (Public Drawing and Drawing Class) (1780), FBAUP articulates the past and the present, developing a current, theoretical and practical culture, within the scope of arts and design, remaining attentive to future challenges. FBAUP proudly sees the professional and artistic career of many of its graduates being consistently recognized and awarded in cultural and professional contexts, nationally and internationally.
FBAUP offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, specialized and continuing education training, promoting quality teaching based on excellent research and social impact.
Currently, FBAUP hosts two research centers, funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT): i2ADS, Instituto de Investigação em Arte, Design e Sociedade and ID+, Instituto de Investigação em Design, Media e Cultura.
