Cultural Activity - Exhibitions

The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto plays an active role in society by promoting the presentation of current artistic and curatorial projects, both inside and outside the institution, organised by students, teachers and researchers. Exhibitions directly related to the curricular activities and mission of the FBAUP are organised in its heterogeneous and versatile exhibition spaces.

There are three temporary exhibition galleries in the Main Building. The Museum Gallery, on the building's roof and terrace, features curricular exhibitions, exhibitions that are part of master's and doctoral programmes, as well as exhibitions resulting from research activities. The Kitchen Gallery, adajcent to the bar, hosts short-term exhibitions, often of an experimental nature. The 1st Floor Gallery, at the top of the main staircase, is usually used for FBAUP's evocative and commemorative exhibitions. These galleries present relatively informal exhibitions that can be visited by the general public.

Accessed via the garden, the Exhibition Pavilion stands out for its regular programme of long-term exhibitions. Maintaining a criterion of relevance to the work carried out at the Faculty, whether curricular or research based, these exhibitions may involve external artists and curators, cross-cutting themes and practices, historical approaches and contemporary issues. The Exhibition Pavilion offers exhibitions with national and international relevance that are part of the city's cultural programme.
