The FBAUP Collection reflects the dynamics of teaching and learning in Fine Arts and Design over more than two centuries of the institution's history. As well as being a tool used in teaching, it is also, in conjunction with the historical archive, a source for research in art, design, social sciences and humanities.
The collection includes engravings and antique drawings, plaster casts for the study of fine arts and works by students and teachers from the former Academia Portuense de Bellas-Artes to the present day. The collection demonstrates the diversity of artistic practices, from painting to sculpture, photography to installation, video and performance. The collection is also representative of the practice of communication design and the graphic arts.
The FBAUP's annual exhibition programme puts into dialogue and problematises ways of thinking and seeing across time and disciplines, disseminating the role of artists and designers in society, based on works from the Collection. The objects are accessible to the public on request.
