Péter Zakar (1963) graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the József Attila University in Szeged with a degree in philosophy and history. In 1998, he received his PhD in historical science. He habilitated as a doctor of historical sciences in 2004, and doctor of the Hungaran Academy of Science in 2019. He is presently Vice Rector for International and Public Relations, and he is also a professor of the Institute of History, Department of Modern Hungarian History at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Szeged. His research interests are the 18-19th-century Hungarian history, ecclesial history and the history of Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence in 1848-1849.
