Current position: Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP); Director of the Master’s course in Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering; Visiting Cheney Fellow at U. Leeds.

Academic Background: Degree in Civil Engineering from FEUP (2002); Master in Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering from FEUP (2005); PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2011);

Main research interests / skills: Advanced models of analysis of dynamic train-infrastructure interaction; Models for predicting noise and vibrations induced by railway traffic; experimental evaluation of vibrations; advanced algorithms for analyzing the condition of the railway infrastructure; soil-structure dynamic interaction.

Main activities developed: Researcher responsible for 4 research projects and member of the team of 10 research projects in topics realted to railways and soil-structure dynamic interaction; supervisor / co-supervisor of 2 completed doctoral theses and 5 ongoing doctoral theses; author of more than 200 technical and scientific publications, including more than 50 articles in indexed international journals. Author / co-author of more than 50 technical opinions on vibrations induced by rail traffic, reinforcement of railway foundations, slope stability, excavations in urban environments and foundations
