Paulo Macedo

Paulo Moita Macedo is Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Caixa Geral de Depósitos.
He was Health Minister of the XIX Constitutional Government of Portugal, from 2011 to 2015.
He graduated in Business Organisation and Management from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG) of Universidade de Lisboa, in 1986. He completed the Advanced Business Management Program at AESE Business School, Lisbon, in 2001 and attended several Programs for Senior Executives: “Breakthrough Program for Senior Executives” at IMD – International Institute for Management Development, in Lausanne, 2018; “Closing the Gap Between Strategy and Execution”, at MIT-Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, in Boston, 2019; “Leading Professional Service Firms”, at Harvard Business School, in Boston, 2019, and “Complexities of Chairing in Modern Banking Governance”, from IFB-INSEAD, in Lisbon, 2019.
Paulo Moita Macedo is a member of the Board of Trustees of Agência de Avaliação e Acreditação do Ensino Superior (A3ES), member of the Rector’s Advisory Board of Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Advisory Member of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST).
He returned to Banco Comercial Português (Millennium BCP) where he was General Manager and Board Member of Millennium bcp Ageas Grupo Segurador, SGPS, S.A., Ocidental Vida, Companhia Portuguesa de Seguros de Vida, S.A. and Ocidental – Sociedade Gestora de Fundos de Pensões, S.A., from 2015 to 2017.
From 2008 to 2011, he was Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors of Banco Comercial Português (BCP), and non-executive Vice-Chairman of several companies in the BCP Group (2011), Member of the Supervisory Board of Bank Millennium, Poland (2008-2011), and a Member of the Supervisory Board of Euronext from 2010 to 2011.
Paulo Macedo was Director-General of Taxation and Chairman of the Tax Administration Board, from 2004 to 2007.
In BCP, he was also a former Member of the Executive Board of Seguros e Pensões, Member of the Board of Directors of Médis, Companhia Portuguesa de Seguros de Saúde, SA, from 2001 to 2004, Member of the Board of Directors of Interbanco, from 2000 to 2001, and Member of the Board of Directors of Comercial Leasing, from 1998 to 2000.
