Fátima Vieira is Vice-Rector for Culture of the University of Porto. She is in charge of the organization of the programme of events and exhibitions at the Rectorate, but also of the University of Porto Publishing House (U.Porto Press), as well as of a set of cultural institutions that belong to the University: The Museum of History and Natural Sciences; the Hall of Biodiversity; the Botanical Garden; the House-Museum Abel Salazar; the University Planetarium; and the Fundação Marques da Silva (the biggest private archive of architecture in Portugal).
Fátima Vieira is Associate Professor (with ‘Agregação’) at the Faculty of Arts, where she teaches since 1986. Her main fields of studies are Utopian Studies and Literary Translation Studies. She is the Coordinator of the Porto branch of CETAPS – the Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies –, where she is the leader of the research project “Mapping Utopianisms”, and a member of the project “Shakespeare and the English Canon”. She is also a member of the Institute for Comparative Literature Margarida Losa, where she has coordinated several funded projects on comparative utopianism.
