Eric Cassan is a professor at Paris-Saclay University since 2009. His research field is optoelectronic integration, in particular silicon photonics. He is co-author of more than 200 research papers, 250 communications in international conferences, and his works are cited about 7880 times. He has gradually become involved in his university as head of Bachelor degrees, then as director of a doctoral school for ten years or so, and more recently (since early 2020) as Deputy Vice-President in charge of European affairs at the Paris-Saclay University.

Within the European alliance EUGLOH, he is the coordinator of the H2020/EUGLOHRIA project.
