Edit Paulik MD, PhD is Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health, Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School, University of Szeged, Hungary. She is a physician specialized in preventive medicine and public health, and she is trained in health care management. Her research work focuses on epidemiology, such as population-based surveys about health, health-related quality of life and health behavior. She performed several epidemiological surveys to reveal associations between socio-demographic and socio-economic characteristics and health status, as well as health-related behaviors, such as dietary habits, smoking and physical activity at local, regional and national level (e.g., health and behavior of pregnant women). She is responsible for the education of public health and teaches the various fields of public health and preventive medicine – epidemiological methods, epidemiology of noncommunicable diseases, health determinants, such as lifestyle, environmental factors, and health care services – for medical, dental, pharmacy, health visitor and nursing students.
