My researches focus on the social impact of sport and especially sporting events. This social impact is examined through two major dimensions. The first one studies the influence of sport and particularly the fact of hosting / organizing local, national or international sporting events (Olympic Games, Fifa world cup, Rugby world cup, UEFA Euro, etc.) on host-territories. This couls be an “internal” (strengthening sense of belonging to the community, civic pride, engagement of non-disabled or disabled inhabitants toward physical activity, etc.) or “external” (improvement of city awareness and image, strengthening attractiveness of the city toward tourist, national population or companies) influence on the destination. By extension, this orientation examines branding strategies and development planc conducted by local governing bodies.
