State of Emergency rules in effect on January 15

The decisions taken by the Council of Ministers on 13 january 2021 will not result in changes to academic activities or other activities in line with the University of Porto’s institutional mission, all of which may go ahead in accordance with the current legislation as well as the recommendations from the health authorities, as has been the case since the start of the academic year.

The only recommended suspension is that of sporting and cultural events and activities at University facilities. The services that are essential for the regular functioning of academic activities, such as libraries, study rooms, reprographies and food services, may continue to operate as usual, in strict compliance with the current health rules and regulations.

Given that the whole country is required to stay at home, except for authorised travel, and while there are still uncertainties regarding whether a declaration of justification will be necessary for travel to educational institutions, we would like to remind you that the University of Porto has created an automatic system to issue declarations that can be used by staff and students.

Staff can download the declaration from their personal webpage on the SIGARRA system, after logging in, under the “Human Resources” menu (submenu “Declarations”), in the sidebar on the right-hand side of the page.

Students may access the declaration on their personal SIGARRA webpage by selecting the course in which they are enrolled, where they will find the “Declarations” menu at the bottom of the right-hand sidebar of the page.

While we are conscious of the difficult time that the country faces, we have no doubt that our Academic Community shall, once again, overcome the difficulties and rise to the challenges ahead of us.
