Screening for COVID-19 at the University of PortoRaul Santos
Following the recommendations of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, the University of Porto will implement, from April 12, a COVID-19 screening program among students and staff, in anticipation of the in-person activities return set for April 19.
Over the next few days, all members of the academic community will receive an email with information about the scheduling in one of the 10 test centres that the U.Porto will install in different locations of the University, with the support of the health sciences schools, the Institute of Public Health of the U.Porto and the Portuguese Red Cross.
The test is voluntary, but it will only be available at the place assigned to you and upon prior registration through the link provided to you by email.
The screening of the academic community will be carried out with rapid antigen tests (TRAg) for SARS-CoV-2, on nasopharyngeal samples obtained using swabs. You will receive the result email about 30 minutes after the test.
We remind you that, if the Government roadmap for lifting the national lockdown does not suffer any setback, the Higher Education Institutions will restart their in-person activities on the 19th of April.
In the University of Porto, the return of in-person activities will be defined and announced by each school, privileging the adoption of the hybrid system of in-person classes and distance learning, in order to reduce the concentration of people inside the facilities.
