Türkan Saylan (1935 – 2009) was born in Istanbul and is one of the first female dermatologists in Turkey. Saylan fought against leprosy for many years and founded the Turkish Leprosy Relief Association. Saylan, who touched the lives of thousands of people and promoted the education of girls – especially those living in rural areas –, also established the ÇYDD (Association for Supporting Contemporary Life).
