Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was a Finnish artist and storyteller. In the midst of a war, Jansson wanted to bring some happiness, comfort and colours to life and she did so by creating the Moomins. This excentric and adventurous world of the Moomin trolls has given hope and support for a lot of people, from children to adults. The Moomins have also offered a channel to express harder subjects such as loneliness and death from a safe and pleasant point of view.
