Third webinar announcement

A new webinar “Mind the Gap! Perceptual differences and learning” is due on 18 March, 2015 at 11.00 CET, as part of the TALOE webinar series “Talks on e-assessment and learning outcomes”. The lecturer will be Steve Wheeler,  associate professor of Learning Technology in Plymouth Institute of Education, Plymouth University. He is going to discuss different gaps teachers and students face every day – generational gaps, gaps in understanding, expectation gaps, gaps in literacy, intention gaps – which can be widened or narrowed by using technology. He also explores flipped roles, digital assessment and technology enhanced learning in his presentation.

Assessment Strategy: Managing and Supporting Assessment Designers

The TALOE Partnership is organising its second webinar of the “Talks on E-assessment and Learning Outcomes” on 18 February 2015, starting at 11:00 CET. The webinar’s title isAssessment Strategy: Managing and Supporting Assessment Designers“. The presenters from Dublin City University, Elaine Walsh and James Brunton are going to introduce their project launched in 2012 by the humanities programme team of the Open Education Unit, aimed at enhancing the quality of assessment writing. In 2014 the team developed an online assessment writers resource and delivered associated training workshops. One of the main realisations of the project was that there is need for the distinct linkage of programme learning outcomes, module learning outcomes, assessment type, evaluation criteria and feedback criteria.

Recording of webinar “Content analysis and critical thinking – An assessment study” is available

A successful webinar entitled “Content analysis and critical thinking – An assessment study” was held on 21st January, as the opening session of TALOE monthly series of“Talks on E-assessment and Learning Outcomes”. The lecturer, Antonella Poce was speaking about the project of the University Roma Tre that assessed the following hypothesis: with providing further cultural insights according to well-defined models on which to undertake guided discussions, the critical thinking skills of students increase. The students’ written productions were treated with a lexicometric analysis using the Taltac software, and with content analysis, through adaptation of the Newman, Webb and Cochrane (1997) model. The results were presented during the webinar.
