Thermal Wall
Lino Maia
Project Promoter
This new concept consists of a hybrid technology for the execution of a simple and single wall (single cloth), massive and homogeneous, of easy and fast execution and of high thermal efciency for buildings. The wall consists of light blocks prefabricated with light concrete and there will be no need for a mortar to connect the rows of blocks.

The team proposes the development of protocols to enhance Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) in highly valued domestic animals, (i.e. stallions). Equine sperm capacitation does not work in vitro. We propose the use of our patent-protected components to develop a media to enhance stallion sperm capacitation and establish a successful ART protocol in equines, thus targeting a high value industry.

NanoPyl are lipid nanoparticles designed for oral administration to counteract gastric infection, without inducing bacterial resistance and interfering with the host gut microbiota, being both safe and effective. Due to its biocompatibility and specificity, this representes the first suitable solution for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients to use in a massive, antibiotics-free, H. pylori eradication protocol (reaching 4 billion infected).

Diabetic retinopathy is a worldwide pandemic. Late diagnosis aggravates side effects of a disease that ultimately brings blindness to its patients. To provide a solution for improved and early diabetic retinopathy diagnosis, this project aims to develop a point-of-care immunosensor device that provides means for quantitative and non-invasive disease detection and monitoring.
Biodiversity Sustainable Gardens
Sónia Ferreira
Project Promoter
One of the biggest problems of biodiversity loss for society is the loss of the ecosystems services provided by insects, resulting in agricultural losses. The goal of Biodiversity Sustainable Gardens, as a project, is to design a consultancy service that addresses biodiversity loss in urban areas focusing in the design of biodiverse sustainable gardens with low maintenance economic and ecological costs.
Monitoria
Carla Martins
Project Promoter
MONITORIA (MOnitoring NonInvasively To Overcome mortality Rates of heart Insufficiency on Ambulatory), is a non-invasive device for comprehensive heart failure monitoring, at home. It is composed of a state-of-the-art multimodal array of sensors that will provide real time monitoring of some vital and electrophysiological signs, hemodynamic signs, transthoracic impedance, chemical signs, and physical activity levels.

Lithium-based drugs have been widely used in the treatment of psychiatric diseases, particularly bipolar disorders. Considering their narrow therapeutic range, the team proposes a portable device for lithium monitoring in the blood to support physicians in therapy adjustment. This technology will contribute to the reduction of the socioeconomic impact of the disease, and the improvement of the overall well-being of the patients.

Tremolica is a vegetable drink based on lupin, naturally flavoured with lemon and cinnamon. The use of lemon and cinnamon improves the drink flavour, that evokes the essence of one of the most known and loved Portuguese pastries, the Pastel de Nata. By using the lupin's peel, we are improving the nutritional value of the final product while contributing towards sustainability.

This new solution is characterized by an innovative injectable bimodal biomaterial comprising a layer that will promote the formation of new bone (bone-like layer) and another one that will induce the formation of mucosa (mucosa-like layer). This way, in the context of oral and maxillofacial surgery, hard and soft tissue regeneration can be achieved.
