The project 2SMART focuses on the development of smart solutions of engineering and design to improve the quality of life of citizens, focused on energy aspects inside buildings and on solutions related to environment and health of citizens.

The 2SMART project comprises five activities related to the development of smart solutions of engineering and design to improve the quality of life of citizens, focused on energy aspects inside buildings and on solutions related to environment and health of citizens. The overall project is strongly committed with local and international industry; the team has shown, along the years, the skills, resources, results, expertise and international recognition, as well as the industrial trust and partnership that have laid the foundations for success of this structured project – focusing on innovative processes and products, able to answer to current societal challenges. Researchers are, therefore, committed to bring this fundamental research to a commercial level.

The project will profit from the complementary competences and resources of the participating R&D units of the University of Porto, creating synergies from fundamental to applied research, where art and innovation combine. Together the 4 R&D units, LEPABE, Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy; LSRE-LCM, Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering – Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials; CEFT, Transport Phenomena Research Center and i2ADS, Research Institute in Art, Design and Society, will link their knowledge and resources to provide the Northern Region of Portugal with efficient solutions.
